Tutorial

People on Facebook like my sweet wrapper flowers so I through why not and make an tutorial of how to make on of them flowers. Reason is when I was young that how I started to learn by looking at tutorials of making something easy so when you start making it you can add your own style or twist to it. Plus it would be cool having people making my flowers because it shows that I teach them something that they think looks really nice.

Flowers

Starting making the flowers out off stuff I can find in the bin. The first material I was using is sweet wrappers just because of the different colours/patterns they are and a lot of flowers are very bright so I though why not and using wire for the main body of the flower and PVA glue for sticking. After I finish one flower I starting to improve my skills with using sweet wrappers on another flower and then for the next flowers I made plus will be making for next we adding on more different materials like the last image of this blog I used a toothpaste box for the flower and it looks really nice but will have to work on it abit more.

I've also starting putting these images on other public site like Facebook to see people reaction on these images.

Put this photo 3 days ago. I've have now 25 links and 1 comment saying "pretty' this picture which to me show that what am I doing is good and I find it nice people enjoying my work so it make me want to make more just for people enjoyment.

Put this photo late night and its got 12 links plus 10 comments. The comments I found intersecting because my friend who doesn't do art wants me to make more of these flowers and he give me an idea saying "How about making a bunch of them actually coming out of a Quality Streets box/tin? " with is a good idea because its still junk materical I'm using but it like the flowers are growing in the junk insted of ground.

Just a few minutes ago I've upload this photo and I've got 2 links for far so I can't saying anything about this photo yet but maybe next blog I will give you a review of what people said about it.

Reject - Accept

Full image of my work area.

I though it will be an good idea to show my display of my working area because for my final project in uni is reject - accept.

Which is how can I make flowers with are nice to look at and its accepted to people in normal life to last longer so I've pick wasted/junk materials which is the rejected side because people don't want but because I'm using this materials for making the flowers it will make them accept as well.

Because I wanted to know every bit to a flower I started to break them into there single parts of it and layer it out in order to see the different size, colour change, order, etc etc.

Wires

For two days we had a vister called Jill Walker (http://jillanitawalker.blogspot.com/) who is lecturer use on using wire.

However before the lecturer we had to do tasks.

Task 1 - Produce series of line drawings based around your home but pay attention to
- light levels
- evidence of wear and tear
- texture and nature of the materials in the spaces

SO one of my drawings that I like and also improve as I went along was my bookshelf and my toy collection. I like this photo because its got so many stuff happening with the lighting, shapes, shadows, colours.

So when I got started planing on how I'm going to use the wires I started putting the work on the wall so I have to stand up. It help me because I can use bigger paper so I don't feel limit to me drawing it out.

Also I started doing colour system to help me which wire goes where.
Exmaple
- Thick Blue
thick wire (main body)
- Thin Blue
extra details for smaller stuff so thinner wire
Brown
- Where the shadow is
Red
-  Where I'm going to bend it to make is coming out of the wall (3D effect)

Using the drawing I started making it over the picture. Helps me to know which bits goes where, size, scale also I look at both drawing and picture as well to give me ideas of how I have to connet ALL them different shapes together.
Ones all the main body finish I start adding shadow by using bits on cans and putting them between the wires sometimes over lapping to give it and uneven effect.

Because I have a lot of toys I wanted to keep there shape to I sue the wire and put it around there body or face so see where everything is and I was make it look like I'm drawing out the toy but this time using wire to make is 3D insted of drawing it out on paper like I did on my task.

To my surprise because of how I work on the wall when I step back I can see ANOTHER shadow that was created with the wire because the light was just above me so the shadow look really long and stretch plus of the colour wire and how it was putting together it look like the shadow was apart of my work as well which to me I like.

So move this project more I put another big paper under my wire and started to draw out the shadow, why because I wanted the shadow to stand out more and to see what it will look like if still look like its apart of my work but still using two different size pens for the thickens of the shadow.
Ones that done I started to move the paper in different area so insted of having just one shadow I have created an extra one so its looks like there another light as well.

Here is some photos of the final outcome.

Models Public

When I put ALL of my Stereotype models on an Facebook to see people view on it and a lot of people like it (12 likes and 9 comments) but there was one comment that was interesting because the person ask if it was public or private my models so I comment back saying it still private but I might make it public for people later on.

So my next task is to see if I can make my models public for people so they can to print out and make them for there self. My England Model is the first one I'm making it public because it was easy to understand the layout and not too difficult to edit it.

I started out drawing the main layout (head, body, arms and legs) but still keeping the same measurement because I want it to be the same size as the other model.
By scanning it to the computer and adding colour I create my very first public model for people can do for them self HOWEVER when its printed its the size of an A4 paper.

Canada Model

Last model for my stereotype G8 Models.
So this is Canada and after all the other models that I have done this one is the one that I'm most proud of because I've have used the right materials so it looks and feels real. The design for him I made a bit error because the brown strap was on the wrong side so I change that when it came to making it.

Review
On my G8 Models
  • That it was harder than I though it will be.
  •  Had to think which bits go where and how are you going to glue them together.
  • Should try EVEN MORE materials like glass, metal, clay, different types of paint (e.g. water colours), pens, pencil, wood/sticks, plastic.......
  • The Model that I enjoy the most to make was ENGLAND because I was born in England, had SOO many ideas that it was hard for me to narrow it down plus it was my first model to make.
  • The Model that I least enjoy was FRANCE because it wasn't a challenge to make should of done using fabric for the clothes so it feels real insted of using tissue paper.
FUTURE PLANS
How am I going to make it even better.
  • Design packaging for the Box Boy to be display
  • Improve Models (re-make some or all) by use other materials that I didn't use.
  • Photography (taking picture of them and editing them so it can be used for adverting, comic skits, posters)
  • Design other object with the similar theme to Box Boy like handbags, lunch boxes, pencil case, pen/pencils, clothes, computers, rooms, furniture, toys, notebooks/dairy/folders.......
  •  Make online paper craft and see if other people can make them

    Germany And Russia Models

For these two Models I made it a little bit different because insted of gluing the hat you can remove it whenever you like so if you want to change or swap hats you can and its very easy to do.

Note - Masking Tap is a very good for adding colour, layering and texture to the model.

Because Russia is a very cold country and in most stereotype images they have them wearing furry hats, so I wanted my model to have that so I used old black furry hat for it.
Note - Was abit hard to handle because the fur so too long so if I got the time I will fine a different material for the model hat.

    America and France Models

The most common image for an French person. The classic mustache, black hat (next time make it less boxy when making the french hat).

There was soo many different stereotype images for Amercia. From a fat, red neck, superman, Captain America, Indian Jones Outfit, etc etc. So I pick the Cowboy because it all started in America and because it know where he from easily than the other styles.

    Japan Stereotype Model/Designs

Japan Model made out off different colour fabric and tissue paper.
Took me a lot of time because it was hard gluing it together with just PVA glue so next time I use fabric I try an stronger type of glue also need to get fabric scissors so it leave a nice clean cut.

The final design for this model I think next time I should look at what colour materials I have in my house first then go and make the model because for the blue coat it has a hit of red and its very dark so I had to paint the fabric first then wait to its dry before I glue it to the body which take a lot of time.

I really wanted to do this design because everybody love ninja and I think it will be great because ninjas started in japan HOWEVER some people will think it might be Chinese, don't ask but a lot of because can't tell the difference between Japanese  and Chinese so that why I did the Kimono design.

    More design

These are the real design that I'm using for making my model design.
I think this country was really hard to stereotype because most of the time they always talk about the second world war and then being nazi and I don't people to think there the bad people still because it was ALL in the past and yea you have to remember the past to improve your future but when you designing models you want them to be fun so I look into there old fashion.

Canada was to me very easy because I will always remember these army outfits.

Cowboys for America because it started there and it sort of shows that care free and adventure hunting side to them.

Finish the model of Italy but as an roman army style by using tinfoil for the armour and different materials for the outfit insted of just using paint the colours like what I did for the England model.

    Subject Project

Hello is been sometime I've blog something so for are next term we are can pick a subject(s) or matter(s) that we are passionate about it and for are vacation homework we have to do evidence/research about it.

So mine is going to be about Stereotype. Not because I'm racist, its to do with my family and how mix they are. For starter a lot of my family are not from England, like my grandad he is from china and after the World War 2 he moved to England to find a better life, also some family members live outside of England so we have to travel to see them which is really good because I get to see there different lifestyle, atmosphere of the cities/towns.

SO for my first bit a of research I've been looking at how stereotype effect us in socially or by the media, and to my surprise it effects us a lot. Take this Photo on the right people who have social network (e.g. Facebook) using these images to tag there friends. It's interesting because they are looking at what stand out from the rest of there group and try to find a stereotype version on them to show what they are.

Because there a lot of information about this I wanted to find someone that was related to me so I moved to the countries stereotypes.
So I got myself a full World Map and pick out info about anything to do with countries. It can buildings, history, food, lifestyle, facts anything that makes that country different from the rest.
