Point 8

Produce a good quality image(s) of one of your pieces of work that has been enhanced by the use of computer-based technology. So I used picnik ( http://picnik.google.com/ ) is an sofeware where so can edit yout images for free.

Project 1
Using the software I've download I can fix the basic colour so the image looks clearer/ soft, because I wanted to make is abit dramtic I added more shadow and the side so it show abit of the outline of the object. Putting an focal black and white to it makes it look different because the normal colours is on the middle so for the people that looks at this goes stright to the middle part of the image.

Project 2
Insted of editing it alot, I just add a little bit. So I soft focus on the outside of the image to give it like a dream like theme, change the coloutr temperature to make it look warm, inviting, soft because your bedroom is to make you feel relax and comforting so the little bit of editing gives it an added effect.

3D Model

Today is when I will be making my 3D model of my room using all the info I got, my material reseach, photo's of my room and designs for it to help me make my model.
So to start of I made the base for my room just using normal thick white paper so it can hold in place and to make it look like the walls. The walls are no more than 18cm x 15cm so it wont be to hard to hold other objects and too big so you can pick it up.

Adding the floor however it has to be deform and unlevel so I created an higher part of the floor near to the corner reason is to see how the objects will re-act to it and what other design or extra stuff to make the object level but still have the floor unlevel. Using masking tag to keep the white paper together and to give it more details (like them wooded planks on the floor you get).

Using.......
                 -Black Paper
                 -Brown Paper
                 -Assitate
                 -Cardboard
                 -Masking Tap
                 -Glue

To make the objects that will be in the room but keeping the deform theme as well. Also buy using carboard to give it thickness so it make it look like you can design it in real scale. The assitate is to give it an glass look, the brown paper symbolise wood so I added pencils marks to it and the black paper is for details. the reasion why i'm sticking to them colours because in the War Museum it doesnt have much colours same goes for them silcent film.

Adding the bed and lamp because of the uneven floor I thought I can make an normal bed but with an added twist which is adding book holder at the end of the bed and a slide at the side. The resion why the slide can be used a cooler way to wake up (rolling out of bed) or drawing stuff or as an notest board just for your important stuff you need to remember. As for the lamp in my room i have a side table where the lamp is on. So because the other objects I've made has an moden twist and is simple look to it I though I do the same by using the extra walls that comes out and put the lamp on the walls with added sheifs to represent the side table.

Materials

Because I'm changing/ deforming the room that related to Dr Caligari and Fish Eye Lens. So for my main room that I will be designing will be my bedroom.
Reasons why I'm using my room is because I know the objects of the high and scale of it, and were the spaces are. So I took a photo of an area in my room so today i can start making it in 3D. Also in the photo I edited the colours so I can see the objects clearer and make it brighter so it help me know where the dark areas so give me an idea of how thick the object is.

So for the material I be using to make the 3D room is paper, because I think paper is very useful to deform and easy to get a lot of to create the objects I be making for my room. As you can see by the picture on the right side I'm changing the shape (so deforming it).

So this is a very quick 3D model of my room just by using paper and masking tap. this is also helpful for me because it shows me where the spaces are so if I want to make object deform bigger or smaller and which areas are plain so I can do something about it.

So when I've finish the model I bend or fold different areas (bed, walls, pictures, floor, etc) to give it its deformed look. There is also an free software where you can design and build building using your computer which is called Sketch Up. However I much enjoy doing by hand than on the computer because sometimes computer software has limilts, where on hands on you can do anything if you put your mind to it. but if I had a bit more time I would love to have a go maybe next project if is to do about building or room spaces.

Also I try using assitate to do quick design drawings, to see the different effect it can make plus it save alot of paper so when I make my model it wont be making alot of errors because I've havent thought it throw 100%. Plus it give me an idea of wot it will look like and give me an idea how big should I make it.

Research

For today I've been looking into my building that I have pick (Imperial War Museum) and found out that the reason why it was builded like was to make it look like an explosion/distation to relate about the war and how chaotic it was.
So here are some stuff I've look into that has the similar stuff to the museum.

Dr Caligari - Silent Film
I've pick him because he too got distation walls and room in the video similar to the Museum not all the walls are 180 degrees stright and each of them is different and has the same dull colours to show there no joy, happiness. So its make both of them make it look serious and dramatic.

Because I was looking at distation of
objects and rooms I've come to Fish Eye Lense and how it disfigures the picture, same with the rooms how one bit of unnatural shape to make it stand out from the rest. This sort of style is similar to an artist called Arish Kapoor with his Cloud Gate but insted of an photo he made and big object so that people can walk around it both in and out and each time you move there always something different refected back at you and by the shape it give an distation look to it (same with the fish eye lens).

Photo's

For the past two days I've been taking photos of Manchester Building.

Insted of taking just a few photos on just one building, I've choose to be a real tourist and try to go to all of the building like..

- Art Gallerey
- The Lowry
- Imperial War Museum North
- Manchester Law Courts
- The Royal Exchange Theatre
Photo of the inside in the Imperial
War Museum North.

There was some building that I didn't take because I've run out of time (The Rylands Library), dont really like the shape/ style to the building (Urbis) or it was hard to get an inside photo of the building (Selfridges Department Store/ Manchester Law Courts).
However as I moved to next building I've started to see that the newer buildings have something in common like..

- Glass
Makes the room look bigger, brighter (save alot of electricity), relfect the sky so it has the same colour (connected to planet), smart and clean
- Metal
Last for a long time, strong, shiny when the sun hits the metal
-Shape
Each building has a different shape so they have there unquie style but still have this new future look to the city.

Just something that I found on youtube about Manchester Architecture however it doesnt talk much about the newer building but still is very intesting to watch.

Project

Celebrating Manchester's Iconic Architecture

This week I've have to visit at least four iconic building in Manchester and get photos, drawings, info of the building plus the designers who build it.

So for today I've been looking up on the Internet on famous Manchester building to see which ones I like so by tomorrow I can get primary research on them.

Link
http://www.prideofmanchester.com/architecture/best.htm
like this sit because it doesn't give too much info on one page it, it just have the top 10 best architecture and have a little bit of info about it and photo of the building so when you go to Manchester you know what it looks like.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_War_Museum
Wiki a great site for deep info about something which other links that joins to it if you want to know more. So the Imperial War Museum looks really interesting on photos on the Internet and I do hope I get the time and know where I'm going to see this.
